For spring break this year, I took my first trip to New York City. We visited the
Museum of Modern Art and some art galleries in Chelsea among our sight seeing. Check out some of the awesome artwork I saw:
| Andy Warhol |
5th and 6th grade students did a project inspired by Andy Warhol and Pop Art this year.
| Andy Warhol |
| Jackson Pollock |
| | |
| Louise Nevelson |
| Vincent van Gogh... hey! we've seen this before! |
| Amedeo Modigliani |
Fifth grade did a self portrait inspired by Modigliani's style this year.
| Marc Chagall... students, where have you seen this print before? |
| Andrew Wyeth |
| Ringo Starr's drum |
| view inside the beautiful, Met |
| Tiffany's |
| stained glass... wow! |
| drawing in the museum |
| Charles Demuth... inspiration for a 5th grade project this year. |
| Alberto Giacometti |
| neat armor |
There is so much to see in the museum and very kid friendly. My family's favorite part were the dinosaurs. I also really enjoyed the habitats wing.
| dodo bird skeleton |
| my dad as the missing link |
| Sara from Land Before Time |
Unfortunately, they do not allow photography in the galleries at this museum. They had a really neat exhibit of Wassily Kandinsky's work, whom has been the inspiration for a few 6th grade projects.

In case you can't get to the
Met or
MoMA anytime soon, you can visit them virtually via
The Google Art Project. This site is beyond words amazing. You can see close up images of world famous artwork from many museums around the globe (and by close up, I mean you see brush strokes, cracks, texture!) It's a great way to bring art into your home. Please be sure to check it out!
