Miss Blackwood

In front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris
 Hello!

My name is Mollie Blackwood and I am your Art Teacher at Corner School K-8. I am so thrilled to be in Corner and to be bringing art to all your wonderful students!

I am originally from a small town in Florida, DeFuniak Springs. I spent all my life there until I attended college at Auburn University where I received my BFA in Graphic Design with an emphasis in Art History. After graduation, I was presented with the opportunity to serve as an intern at the Birmingham Museum of Art. Shortly after my internship, I enrolled in UAB's graduate program for Art Education which I completed in May 2010.

Besides art, I love cooking, the outdoors, and my family. I am a beach bum at heart but grew up spending my summers on Smith Lake. I love traveling, learning about different cultures, and trying new things.

I chose to continue my education for the love of art and teaching. I have always had a passion for sharing art with others, especially children. There is nothing more rewarding for me than seeing a child engaging in art.

I hope you all are as excited as I am for the new school year. I have worked hard on selecting and developing lesson plans for your students to explore art with, learn the basics, and have fun while doing it. Your student will have many opportunities to learn about new and old artists, experiment with materials, and stretch their creative mind.

Here's to a great year!

Please feel free to contact me for any reason at any time. I would also love to know if you have any special talents or skills that you would like to contribute to the art classroom or if you would just like to volunteer!
